Tony McBride

Tony is a consultant with extensive experience in the health and community sector. He has worked for several key health NGOs and now undertakes strategic planning, research, and community engagement work with the health and NGO sector through COPHE and more broadly.

He is a Director of Eastern Melbourne Primary Health Network and previously of a Medicare Local. He was Chair of the Australian Health Care Reform Alliance for six years until mid-2016, and previously was a member of NHMRC’s Prevention and Community Health Committee, the RACGP National Quality of Care Committee, and the National Dental Advisory Board reporting to the Federal Minister in 2011-12.

Before his consultancy role, Tony was the CEO of Health Issues Centre (consumer-focussed research and advocacy) for six years and the manager of Commonwealth population health funding (suicide prevention, drugs and alcohol, Coordinated Care Trials) in Victoria. Earlier he managed health and community services for a local government; taught and researched at Deakin University and worked in a community health service.
