  • COPHE is developing a briefing paper on current and future mental health provision for the new Uniting Board (Uniting is a new merger of 22 UnitingCare agencies in Victoria and Tasmania.) It is doing so in close collaboration with an experienced mental health consumer consultant.
  • COPHE has supported Sector Connect over a two-stage project around closer integration of primary health and mental health care at the local level, especially including NGOs. COPHE developed a report outlining a range of options to implement changes to improve integration.
  • These projects have led to Sector Connect running a consultation and co-design process for the SW Sydney PHN around the development of an integrated specialist primary mental health clinic within a general practice that delivers wrap-around clinical care, care coordination and appropriate referrals for people with severe mental illness,
  • COPHE assisted Gippsland Primary Health Network and the Mallacoota Medical Practice in a project to develop a more sustainable health service for this rural town.
  • COPHE developed a service planning report for Inner South Community Health (Inner Melbourne), looking five years ahead at the way that primary health care, mental health and aged care services are likely to change, including future demand.
  • COPHE has undertaken several financial/business analyses of medical practices, to assist clients understand their profitability / sustainability and better use of MBS item numbers
  • COPHE provided modelling for a Sunbury Community Health to develop and operate a medical practice.
  • COPHE assisted Inner South Community Health to understand the requirements of becoming a Health Care Home and completing the application form.

  • COPHE assisted The Disability Trust in the Illawarra in a two-stage project in planning a primary health care service within its broader disability services
  • COPHE assisted Plumtree, an early childhood provider in SE Sydney, to explore how to extend its service provision to primary health care, built on judicious use of Medicare and closer relationships with local medical, allied health practices and community health services
  • Developed an options paper for Woodville Community Services in SW Sydney on approaches to bring in primary health care practitioners to their services
  • Undertaken a review of an existing allied health centre, run by a PHN (previously a Medicare Local), to identify how its sustainability could be improved.
  • Provided pro bono advice on the phone or in person to a range of other government departments, NGOs or other health bodies that are planning diverse service initiatives
  • COPHE has presented to various organisations financial modelling developed for medical practices to assist in making a decision to become a Health Care Home
